The Hunger Games Comparison

The Hunger Games is an action and romance story.  It is written about the fight of children chosen by each District and about a love romance between two of these children.  Just one person can survive in the game.  The severe situation is more interesting the story.  In the background,  the writer tells some messages and a warning.  There are a lot of differences and similarities in scenes between the book and movie, The Hunger Games in characters, expression and content. 

First, there are differences of the characters.  In the movie, Gale’s character is not so important, so he does not have many lines.  However, Gale is an important person in the book.  There are a lot of scenes and conversations between him and Katniss.  Moreover, the Head Gamemaker plays an important role in the movie because he has some scenes of controlling the games, so he is also more important in the movie than in the book.  However,  the Avox girl, Peeta’s father and a mayor’s daughter Madge don’t appear in the movie. If there are not so many people, we don’t have to recognize mamy things and it is not complicated, so it’s good for us to catch the story easily.

Second, there are some differences and similarities of the expressions.  The movie does not use many words showing the feeling because we can see the character expressions and movements.  It depends on the audience feeling.  On the contrary, the book uses descriptions and many details to allow readers to understand easily, so everyone can catch the expressions correctly.  On the other hand, the movie uses words that are similar to the book such as Katniss said, “I volunteer as tribute.”  Almost words are very important to understand, The Hunger Games, so they are the same.

Third, there are some differences of the content.  In the movie, there are many difference in scenes and situation from the book.  The most different point is that the monster appears because the monster killed Thresh and Cato in the movie.  Furthermore, the speed of changing scenes in the movie.  Although there are very important scenes such as Rue’s death scene and a romance scene,   the scenes were too short.  However, if it is more important, then it becomes longer in the book.  The writer might want to tell us how is it important by the length.

In conclusion,  the book has many details, characters and words. A reader can know character feelings, movement and situations deeply in the book.  On the other hand, the movie doesn’t have some of these parts, but it has other scenes to make us excited.  Moreover, we can know contents easily becouse it is concise.  For these reasons, the book and movie, The Hunger Games, are almost similar, but the purpose of each is different.

Hunger Games Fever

     Hunger Games fever makes archery cool for children.  In schools and backyards,  many children began to play the archery.  There are some reasons that the archery was more famous because of The Hunger Games.

 First,the heroine of The Hunger Games is young, sixteen years old.  Katniss who is a heroine uses a bow and arrow.  so it is very close ages for children, but an older role model.  If the children saw the movie, they feel that they might be able to do like her,  so the children who play the archery increased.

Second, the heroine is female.  Though Katniss is a female, she bravely fights with some enemies.  She never give up and try to survive in severe situations.  These things are the reasons of admiration for children, so they began to try to play the archery.  For these two reasons, I think many children began to play the archery.

In conclusion, I think the children who play the archery will keep increasing because there are the London Olympics soon and they will see more of the sport.  Hunger Games fever won’t stop soon.

THG Tour Information

 This tour is Hunger Games Fan Tours Adventure Weekend.  People will go to Brevard and Transylvania in North Carolina for three days on the weekend.  If you like “The Hunger Games”, it will be a very fun tour for you.  Of course, people who don’t know or don’t like it can enjoy the tour, too.  There are many good activities of Hunger Games people can do.  First, they can experience the “Hunger Games” style.  For example, fans can participate in the "Hunger Games" simulation such as archery, sling shot training, fire building, orienteering, shelter building, and camo face painting.  Second , they can see the film locations in Dupont State Recreational Forest that were used in the movie.  After that, they can what it’s like to be in the tree tops at night like Katniss and Rue.  It is a very valuable experience. Then,  people can eat The Hunger Games food.  Its cost is $389 including the accommodation  charges(Adults-$177/night/person).   That dates are April 27-29; June 8-10; June 22-24; July 27-29; Aug. 24-26; and Sept. 21-23.
  In conclusion, this tour has a lot of contents of The Hunger Games. people can not only know about The Hunger Games but also enjoy the valuable experience of  The Hunger Games.  It must be a good memory for the participants.

The Hunger Games Movie my impression

The Hunger Games

      I went to see the movie of The Hunger games on April 11.  The movie was almost two and half hours.  The first scene was the life of Katniss in District 12.  It was expressed that people of District 12 are very poor and hungry. I felt sad, but I admired her because she lives bravely and strongly.  Next, I will focus on the scene of movement and preparation of the fighting.  There are a lot of feelings.  For example,  Katniss feels a fear of fighting or a new place the “Capitol” and has complex feeling about Peeta.  It is very interesting for me because I can think and imagine about feeling of characters.  Then, I was deeply impressed on the one scene.  It’s a scene just before the game starts.  I could see Katniss shudder.  I was attracted by this acting, so I felt she is an very good actress.  After that, the fighting scene began.  I felt it is very speedy scene.  Moreover, that scene didn’t have any noise.  It is deeply mean for me.  I can image” Is it for less cruel?” or  “tell some message to people?”  I don’t know anything, so it’s also interesting.  After this scene, I was excited during the fighting scenes and I kept hoping Katniss would win.  In conclusion, I was happy because Katniss and Peeta won.  I want to read a contiuation of book and see a contiuation of movie.  It is very interesting and exciting movie.

Spring Break

    On March 24, I went to Seattle by train with my seven friends.  It took about six hours.  It was so long, but it is a very comfortable trip for me because I could enjoy to see the surrounding view and to eat a lot of foods.  I stayed in Seattle four nights and three days.  The first day, we spent the time for traveling, so I just stayed in the hotel.  That hotel was so cheap.  However, I was shocked because it was terrible like a prison.  It was funny.  The second day, I went to the Seattle downtown.  I saw a lot of shops and the first Starbucks.  I bought many Mariners goods.  The third day, I went to   Spaceneedle that is a very high tower.  I have a fear of heights, but I could enjoy it.  After that, I ate some sushi.  In Japan, I just felt delicious.  This time, i was impressed it is too delicious.  The fourth day, I went to the Safeco Field.  I couldn’t see the baseball game, but I could enter to see the field.  After that, I went back to Salem.  These four days were very good experience for me.

Pow Wow

10^TH Annual Social Pow Wow

     March,10,2012, I went to the festival of Social Pow Wow at afternoon.

Then I could feel and think a lot of things using sence.  First, I felt smell.

  When I went into the gymnasium,  I smelt a smell that I have never smelt.  I saw the sourse of smell.  It`s like Japanese SENKOU.  Moreover, I focused on how to use it.  People gathered the smoke and poured it for themselves body.  I don`t know what did it mean, but I have seen like it in Japan.  In Japan, it is good for health.  We can often see in the temple.  I guess it is similar point between Japanese culture and Native American culture.  Second, I saw the unique dance and clothes hearing a strong, loud drum.  I could catch the image which they wanted to tell us.  It`s kind of bird.  I guess it`s an eagle.  However, I felt why its symbol is eagle, so I will try to resarch about it. I noticed that it`s also similar Japanese things.  In my hometown,  there is transmission entertainment (dance) like it.  It also uses bird (but maybe it`s chickin) clothes and drum. It`s very interesting.   Third, I felt a taste.  I ate a smoke salmon. It`s very tender and delicious.

In conclusion, I could know that there are some similar cultures between

Japanese culture and Native American culture.  And Pow Wow is important culture and tradition for people of a region in Salam, because a lot of people (from kids to old persons) participated it. I felt it is a good event.
